2019 Spring Season Overview & Coaching Volunteers Needed

Happy New Year TVFP families! Online registration will be available 2 January at 8am and close 9 Feb 8pm. Just visit tanqueverdefastpitch.com. If you didn’t play this past fall then you will need to create an account. You will be able to select to pay online or to pay by check/cash at an in person registration on the shopping cart page.

            In person registrations, check/cash drop off, residence and birth certificate verification will be at the Udall softball fields times TBD. Expect them to be the last week of January.

TVFP spring ball will have the following age groups – registration fees: 6U - $90; 8U - $135; 10U - $150; 12U - $150; 14U - $150.

 We plan on limiting the teams to 12-14 girls to ensure good playing time based on date and time of registration. If there are enough girls and coaches for more than one team, Baja rules have teams determined by a draft/draw to provide balanced teams for the spring season. A complete explanation can be found in the Baja Rules that are posted on the main page of the website. Because of this requirement, we ask that you participate in a few of the softball skills clinics in Feb (Dated TBD) in order to get in a little practice and to evaluate the skills of your player.

            Typically, there are 2 practices per week and 2 games per week. 6-10U play single games, one during the week and one on Fri/Sat with 12U/14U having double headers on a Fri/Sat. Once the season gets underway there may only be 1 practice during the week due to game scheduling.

           This season’s EXPECTED schedule:

                        -Player Evaluations 9 &/or 16 Feb pending player numbers/coach availability.

-Practices can start 25 Feb pending Coach availability

            -Opening Day Games/Season Start: 15/16 Mar.

             -End of Season Tournament: 6 May – 11 May.

             -City Tournament: 3 Jun – 8 Jun.           

      Additionally, each family is expected to fulfill 2 snackbar shifts per child. A typical shift is no more than 2hrs. If you prefer not to volunteer, the 2 shifts can be bought out for $75 during online registration.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: COACHES

We are also still looking for volunteer Head coaches. One benefit is that you get ½ of a registration covered by the league. Each new coach must be approved by the board. If you know someone that is a good fit please have them contact me. Currently we have:

6U - 1 Tentative

8U - 1 Head Coach Volunteer, 1 Tentative

10U - 1 Head Coach Volunteer

12U - 0

14U - 0

We look forward to working with your girls to teach them softball skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. We understand that winning and being competitive is a key ingredient to enjoying the game but being a good sport and continual improvement is more important.
